TECHNICAL HELP
& SECURITY

How do I keep my SignOn ID and
Password confidential?
-
Do not reveal your SignOn ID and Password
to anyone. RHB Bank staff will never ask for your SignOn ID and Password for any reason.
-
Do not write down your SignOn ID and Password
or use it when someone can see it.
-
Do not choose a SignOn password that is easy to guess such
as your SignOn ID, telephone number, identification number or
birth date. Also, avoid using repeated or sequential numbers
like 111111 or 654321.
-
Change your SignOn password often.
-
Do not share your password. Our staff and administrators will
not ask for your password. Do not be duped by e-mails or phone
calls asking you for your password. This is a well known, although
not-too-common ploy designed to deceive you into sharing your
password. As a rule, never share your SignOn password with anyone.
-
Apart from the steps mentioned above, you should also be aware
that there are several ways a fraudster can retrieve your SignOn ID and Password. These include phishing, hacking,
retrieving hard-copy documents, looking over one's shoulder
and loading malicious software for example viruses into your
computer. Please click here for additional
steps that you can take to keep your details confidential.
- If you suspect your ATM Card number, SignOn ID or SignOn password has been compromised, contact the
RHB Bank branch closest to you (please check by clicking on the
Branch and ATM Locator on the left navigation panel)
or call our Customer Service Agents at 03-9206 8228 for assistance.

Is rhbbank.com.my secure?
Yes. Upon signing on, all information that you have entered via
the Internet is encrypted using 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
Encryption. This is to ensure confidentiality and data integrity.
It is a strong encryption that prevents others from illegally accessing
and making unauthorized alterations to your information.
We also employ multiple levels of firewalls and a two-tier authentication
process using your SignOn ID & Password.

Why do I need to use 128-bit SSL Encryption?
-
SSL Encryption is a process by which information is scrambled
or coded in an attempt to hide it from someone who shouldn't
be seeing it. It safeguards the information sent between your
browser and the computer system at RHB Bank to reduce the likelihood
of unauthorized accessing or viewing of information.
-
Currently, 40-bit SSL encryption is the basic minimum standard
that is used in most browsers. However, it is better to use
128-bit SSL encryption. The main difference between 40-bit SSL
and 128-bit SSL is the length of the key used to encrypt the
messages. The longer the key is, the more difficult it is to
break the encryption code.
-
Please click here to check if you are using
128-bit SSL encryption.

How do I check to see whether I'm using a 128-bit
SSL Encrypted browser?
To determine if you have the 128-bit SSL encryption software,
please follow the instructions below:
- Internet Explorer 5.0x and later
-
From your browser menu at the top, select "Help"
-
Click on "About Internet Explorer"
-
If you see the statement, "Cipher Strength: 128-bit
supported" that means your browser supports 128-bit
SSL encryption.
- If the check shows a lower encryption level, please click
here for instructions on how to upgrade
your encryption level.
- Netscape 4.7x only
-
From your browser menu at the top, select "Help"
-
Click on "About Navigator" or "About Communicator"
-
Look for the section that reads "Contains encryption
software from RSA Data Security, Inc".

-
If the next paragraph (in bold) says "This version
supports U.S. security", that means you have 128-bit
SSL security.
-
If it says you have International security, that means
you have 40-bit SSL security. Please click here
for instructions on how to upgrade your encryption level.

What happens if I forget to SignOut or leave
my PC unattended?
-
We strongly recommend you never ever leave your PC unattended
after you SignOn to the Internet Banking service (for the
same reason you never leave an ATM machine immediately after
you have keyed in your ATM PIN).
-
Please note that any transactions conducted by another party
(unauthorized transactions) while you leave your PC unattended
after you SignOn is treated by RHB Bank as legitimate transactions
authorized by you.
-
As a security measure, if you leave the computer idle, or if
you have forgotten to SignOut, the system will automatically
SignOut for you after a certain period of time. However, if
any unauthorized transactions are conducted by a 3rd Party during
this period (before the automatic SignOut) is treated by
RHB Bank as legitimate transactions authorized by you.
-
To be able to use the Internet Banking services after an automatic
SignOut, you will have to SignOn again. Transactions you had
conducted while the computer was left idle would have been executed,
and you can confirm this by checking your account balances from
the My Account summary page and also the account
transaction history. Should there be any transactions conducted
by a 3rd Party during this period before the automatic SignOut,
these unathorised transactions are treated by RHB Bank as
legitimate transactions authorized by you.

How can I be sure that my personal details
are kept private?
Upon signing on, all information that you have entered via the
Internet is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
This is to ensure confidentiality and data integrity. It is a strong
encryption that prevents others from illegally accessing and making
unauthorized alterations to your information.

What additional steps can I take to keep my
transactions secure?
-
do not share PCs or use public PCs
You are strongly advised to avoid conducting your Internet Banking
transactions on shared or public PCs (Personal Computers), for
example in cyber cafes. If you proceed to utilize cyber cafes
to conduct your Internet Banking transactions, please be reminded
that you are doing so at your own risk.
If the shared/public PC (Personal Computer) is using Internet
Explorer 5 and above, you should also ensure that the "AutoComplete"
function is de-activated prior to signing on.
- Ensure that your PC or laptop is loaded with the latest anti-virus
and anti-spyware software and please make certain that they are
updated with the latest pattern regularly. This is an important
step to follow, as malicious software that include spyware can
sometimes be loaded on a your personal computer at home or in
public PCs such as in cyber cafes. For example, spyware can be
surreptitiously loaded when you open a seemingly harmless e-mail
attachment or click on a pop-up advertisement. The spyware then
collects confidential information and forwards the information
to the fraudster.
- clear your browser's cache
A browser usually stores information like images and text on your
PC so that the Internet pages will be displayed faster the next
time you re-visit an Internet website. This information is stored
in a place called the browser cache memory, and we strongly
recommend that you always clear the cache memory especially
if you conduct your Internet Banking transactions on shared or
public PCs, for example in cyber-cafes.
This is how you can clear your cache memory for the following
browsers:
- Netscape Navigator 4.7x
- Click "Edit"
- Select "Preferences"
- Click "Advance"
- Select "Cache"
- Click both "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear
Disk Cache"
- Click "OK"
- Close your browser
- Internet Explorer 4.0
- Click "View"
- Select "Options"
- Click "General"
- Select "Temporary Internet Files" and click
"Delete Files"
- Click "Yes"
- Close your browser
- Internet Explorer 5.0
- Click "Tools"
- Select "Internet Options"
- Click "General"
- Select "Temporary Internet Files" and click
"Delete Files"
- Click "OK"
- Close your browser
- de-activate the "AutoComplete"
function of Internet Explorer 5.0
In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, the AutoComplete
function stores and lists possible matches from entries that
you have typed previously. You can prevent any passwords (including
your SignOn Password) from being stored in Internet Explorer
5.0 by de-activating the AutoComplete function:
-
Launch you Internet Explorer 5 and click on Tools
Internet Options Content.
-
Under Personal Information, click on AutoComplete.
-
Uncheck User names and passwords on forms.
-
Click on Clear Passwords, and click OK
to clear all previously saved passwords.
-
Click on OK to save the changes.
- remember to SignOut
Always remember to sign out when you are done, for the same reasons
you would remove your ATM card after you have completed all your
transactions at an ATM. It's quick and easy - just click on the
[SignOut] link on the
top right of the screen, or on the left navigation panel. If you
are using a public PC (Personal Computer), at an Internet cafe for
example, we strongly advise you to clear the browser
cache memory, then close the browser you were using when
you are ready to end your Internet session.
